This is a great sensory activity for your kids! This is the homemade version of something similar to kinetic sand. It has a very soft texture that is moldable and will easily crumble. My kids can spend forever squishing, molding the crumbling the sand.
It is really messy but it keeps them busy for quite a while. I would suggest doing it outside and leave the sand in a large bin. I messed up the first time we did it & had them play on the dining table (it was a huge mess!). If you do choose to play indoor, use a bin and have a vacuum ready!
Even though it’s messy it smells good & leave your kids smelling like baby oil!
moon sand recipe
- 8 CUPS OF FLOUR
- 1 CUP OF BABY OIL
- MIXING BOWL
- DOUGH MIXER OR SPATULA
place ingredients in bowl and using a dough mixer or spatula mix everything together. The longer you mix the better the consistency. I’ve also added a little more baby oil as I was mixing to get a denser consistency.
